Down to the wire August 21, 2008

We made a pumpkin check list the other day, and it was mighty long. Then I found out that Keith had left off the parts he already had “in progress,” which made the list even longer. Without going into the weeping and wailing part, I tried to get Keith to consider abandoning the project. From my perspective, it looks less and less likely that this is going to be finished (this year).

We have reached a compromise. If Keith can give me a ride on a rib-less-but-otherwise-complete pumpkin on Thursday night, he can go ahead and finish ribs and lighting. If not, he calls it quits for now and we focus on the other aspects of getting ready for Burning Man. (I can’t figure out where the time goes, but it usually takes us a minimum of 12 hours to pack up and leave.)

I feel like either I turn into a princess or the pumpkin turns into…a frog?

Regardless of what happens, this is a great and beautiful project, and it will get finished eventually. I hope we can finish it this year, because reports on playa conditions are that the dust is very deep and bike riding will be difficult.
